Recapturing the Vision of Christianity as a Movement
Imagine what the 1st century Christian church must have been like. No buildings. No programs. No denominations. Groups of Jesus-followers simply gathered in homes to experience community together by sharing meals, praying, studying God’s Word and applying the teachings of the apostles. Then these disciples scattered throughout their localities to be witnesses to Jesus with their families, neighbors, business partners, and so on. Christianity was not a religion or institution....it was a movement.
Convergence is about recapturing that vision of Christianity as a movement.
We want to be a community of believers seeking and engaging in the redemptive mission of Jesus together. We will begin by cultivating redemptive relationships with people in our neighborhood and workplace. We will reach out to people, get to know them, invite them into our homes and daily activities, and plant the seed of God’s Word in the course of our relationship with them.
By simply being the presence of Jesus and being faithful witnesses, people will be drawn to Jesus and resolve to follow His Way of life. Then, as people are reached, we will gather them into small-group disciple communities where there is fellowship, devotion to God’s Word, accountability, and intercessory prayer for lost people.
Convergence is committed to pursuing a model of Christian community which is natural, relational, simple, and easily reproducible. This organic approach to church planting is not new, nor is it innovative. We simply want to join God in what He is already doing to redeem lost people and gather them to Himself. Sound interesting? Connect with us and see what organic church is all about.
We want to be at the convergence of a new redemptive movement of Jesus in Austin.
